This summer we were finally able to travel back to Kanektok river in Alaska. This river is about 90 minutes charter flight from Anchorage, and the dirt air strip we land on is part of a first native village called Quinhagak. A very unique place which is only reachable by air or sea.
The Alaska West camp is about 5km up river from the sea, and is frequently visited by bears at night looking for food. The river holds all five species of pacific salmon, and also char and big rainbow trout. We mostly fish for Kings (Chinook), but also caught a few chums and sockeye.
